LEGAL REFERRAL SCHEME
What is the referral scheme?
We receive legal queries directly from members of the public seeking to engage Mahmud to act for them. However, the Bar Council's Code of Conduct prevents barristers from acting without a solicitor. We are therefore pleased to provide an informal service where we refer members of the public to solicitors if they do not already have a solicitor. We aim to refer them to solicitors with significant experience of the area of law in question, and who are local to the client. This ensures convenience for both the client and solicitor, and that the client receives the best advice.
The object of this scheme is to assist members of the public in finding lawyers properly qualified to deal with their queries. No member of the public is obliged to engage the solicitor to which we refer them. We do not charge a fee for the service, neither of the client nor the solicitor.
How it works
Where a client in your locality contacts us for legal advice in an area of law in which you specialise, we will contact you to ask about your availability. If you are available then we will provide the client with your name, the name of your firm and contact number. We will also email you to let you know that we have done this. It is then for the client to get in touch with you and progress matters in the usual way.
What we're looking for
If you have a minimum of seven years' experience in any of our practice areas and would be interested in participating in our scheme then please get in touch using the details below. A list of our practice areas is available here.
